About the position

The Bilingual Human Resources Specialist will support the operations of a Food Pantry within a highly regarded non-profit organization in Houston, TX. This role involves coordinating food pantry activities, managing client registrations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The specialist will also assist in nutrition education training and maintain communication with food vendors and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing a clean, safe and efficient operation of the Food Pantry and its facilities.
  • Registers and enrolls clients into the Link2Feed database system for Food Pantry access.
  • Distributes food baskets to clients on a walk-in basis, and assists clients as necessary.
  • Picks up food items, food donations, supplies and other materials for use in the Food Pantry.
  • Assists with the processing of food donations and receipts into Food Pantry operating systems.
  • Stocks shelves and unloads food deliveries and supplies.
  • Prepares reports of food pantry, truck logs and Food Pantry maintenance activities.
  • Coordinates food deliveries to faith-based partners.
  • Maintains communication between food vendors and suppliers.
  • Assists with the provision of Nutrition Education training to clients.
  • Assists with providing information relating to state inspections.
  • Tracks inventory and the disposition of obsolete, damaged and out-of-date inventory.
  • Performs inventories of food pantry assets on a weekly basis.
  • Enters client data and related service notes into Client Tracking System when necessary.
  • Participates in and attends Outreach and Community Events on behalf of the Client Services Department.
  • Complies with all agency, state, and federal regulations relating to the provision of Food Pantry services to eligible clients.
  • Adheres to all agency policies and acts as a role model in the adherence to those policies.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • At least two years' experience working in a customer service-related role.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Advanced technological skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Application Suite, social media, and client-tracking software.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with the Federal CSBG Act, TAC, and State CSBG Laws, Statutes and Regulations.
  • Ability to work independently or on teams in challenging work atmosphere.
  • Experience in a non-profit environment.
