About the position

Bretz & Coven, LLP is a nationally renowned immigration law firm dedicated to defending the rights of immigrants and assisting them in navigating complex immigration issues. With a strong focus on removal defense, family-based immigration, waivers, humanitarian relief, and more, we serve the immigrant community with dedication, respect, and creativity. We are currently seeking two full-time Immigration Paralegals (Paralegal and Senior Paralegal) to join our New York City office and help further our mission. The firm also operates a Bronx office near the Courthouses and Yankee Stadium, providing a supportive environment for our team members. As an Immigration Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in preparing immigration applications and petitions, drafting affidavits, and gathering necessary information and documentation from clients. You will assist clients with immigration relief and guide them through the procedures involved. Your responsibilities will include organizing and maintaining both electronic and paper case files, scheduling and managing client appointments, and following up on case progress. You will also be responsible for submitting cases to attorneys for review, communicating case updates and deadlines with clients, drafting declarations, and preparing case notes. Additionally, you will support the team with various administrative tasks as needed. This position requires a commitment to immigration law and human rights, as well as a strong dedication to our firm's mission. We are looking for individuals who can handle a fast-paced and demanding workload while maintaining excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Experience in immigration law (1 year for Paralegal, 3+ years for Senior Paralegal).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced and demanding workload.
  • Commitment to immigration law, human rights, and the firm's mission.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate, or college credits are a plus.
