About the position

The Bilingual Insurance Specialist at DaVita plays a crucial role in assisting patients with their insurance needs, acting as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, and the corporate office. This position involves both on-site visits to clinics and remote work, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to resolve insurance-related issues effectively. The specialist will also provide education to Medicare patients regarding their options and manage reporting related to patient advocacy.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between patients, facility teammates, billing office, and corporate office to resolve patient insurance issues.
  • Identify, resolve, or escalate issues for prompt resolution.
  • Build relationships with patients and clinic teammates to identify potential insurance issues.
  • Assist Medicare patients with understanding their Chronic Special Needs Plan and Medicare options.
  • Provide high-level customer service to address patient questions or issues.
  • Manage and update tracking tools for patient interactions.
  • Review trends with team and operational leadership.
  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis on key metrics related to patient education and advocacy.
  • Compile monthly operations reviews on assigned patient portfolio.
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed.
  • Participate in special projects and Insurance Management Team initiatives.
  • Mentor team members and shadow new hires for training.

Requirements

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in insurance counseling or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with patients and clinical resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans.
  • Familiarity with insurance management practices.
