Immediate need for a bilingual Japanese financial controller for a well-known manufacturer and distributor. This position offers a hybrid schedule, requiring two days in Costa Mesa and three days working remotely from home. The ideal candidate will possess strong professional business Japanese communication skills, along with robust management and leadership capabilities. A CPA certification is highly recommended, and we are looking for someone who is ready to step into a CFO position, emphasizing the importance of stability in this role. The financial controller will report directly to the VP of Accounting, Credit, and Finance, and will oversee a department consisting of seven employees. The financial controller will be responsible for various aspects of financial reporting, ensuring that all financial transactions are processed timely and accurately in accordance with GAAP. This includes preparing monthly financial reports for senior management, submitting a consolidation package and related disclosure items to the Parent Company quarterly, and preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements. The role also involves presenting financial results to management, managing the requirements for quarterly reviews and annual audits performed by external financial auditors, and remediating any control deficiencies reported by these auditors. Additionally, the financial controller will coordinate with the internal audit team and external financial auditors to satisfy J-SOX requirements as specified by the Parent Company. In terms of tax administration, the financial controller will review quarterly and annual income tax provisions prepared by external tax specialists, oversee return filings and payments for various taxes, and coordinate audits by outside tax agencies. The role also includes cash management responsibilities, such as reviewing daily bank borrowing to ensure corporate cash requirements are met and ensuring that sweep loan borrowing does not exceed target amounts. As a managerial position, the financial controller will supervise the Accounting Manager and establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
