About the position

In response to the humanitarian crisis at America's ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. Devereux will provide extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with intense supports for their social and emotional health. We will also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child. Devereux's ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor and, during the short time they are with us, have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey. This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and supports our country offers. Being a Bilingual Lead Clinician has many advantages. As a Bilingual Lead Clinician at Devereux, you will be a critical part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated, experts who share your passion for helping children in need.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical services for refugee children.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and provide ongoing counseling services.
  • Screen for human trafficking concerns and provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a therapeutic and emotional healing environment.
  • Establish treatment goals and assist in the implementation of the individualized treatment plan.
  • Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely manner and to designated quality standards.
  • Serve as a backup clinician as needed.
  • Handle payroll, time off, and scheduling.
  • Create and monitor data related to clinical outcomes, trends, and compliance with Short-term Shelter guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work and 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience OR master's degree in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science field.
  • Experience with children or adolescents in residential or inpatient setting.
  • At least one (1) year of experience supervising other clinicians (licensed or unlicensed).
  • Licensed to provide clinical services in Texas with LPC, LMFT or LCSW.
  • Strong understanding of formal documentation including providing case consultation.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Able to attend 12 day in-house orientation during weekdays.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Fully immunized/vaccinated (or have a medical/religious exemption) for Varicella, MMR, TdAp, Influenza prior to starting.
  • Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform Safe and Positive Approaches.
