About the position

The Carlson Law Firm is one of the largest firms of its type in Texas and is currently seeking a part-time Bilingual Legal Assistant to join our growing South San Antonio office. This position is ideal for individuals who are caring, detail-oriented, and self-starters. The Bilingual Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in delivering excellent service to our team, clients, and the community. The primary responsibility of the Legal Administrative Assistant is to provide exceptional customer service while managing and working on pre-litigation and litigation cases. This includes providing administrative support to attorneys and case managers, maintaining daily correspondence, and fostering good working relationships with clients, witnesses, attorneys, adjusters, medical providers, and colleagues. In this role, the Bilingual Legal Assistant will assist with various personal injury cases, including dog bites, maritime incidents, on-the-job injuries, slip and falls, and motor vehicle accidents. Key responsibilities include interviewing potential clients about incidents and injuries specific to each case, assisting with case planning, drafting, reviewing, and filing insurance claims, requesting and reviewing police and witness reports, gathering and reviewing medical reports and health insurance information, and assisting in preparing settlement demands. The position also involves scanning, faxing, mailing, and receiving legal documents, data entry, and disbursing and sending out payments to medical providers.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of work experience in administration, customer service, or related fields
  • Basic understanding of computers and ability to learn software systems
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
