About the position

Clackamas County's Health Centers - Behavioral Health Clinics is seeking a motivated and adaptable bilingual Mental Health Specialist to join the Community Support Team in Milwaukie, Oregon. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $83,420.32 to $105,530.57 annually, depending on experience. The Mental Health Specialist will provide a variety of professional counseling and program services to individuals and their families receiving mental health services. This role is crucial in delivering high-quality care to clients with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses, some of whom may also have substance use disorders (SUD). The successful candidate will work as part of a diagnostic team of mental health professionals, conducting evaluations, service/treatment planning, and placement for clients. As a Mental Health Specialist, you will engage in individual and group therapy, monitor clients' progress during treatment, and develop and implement service plans tailored to the needs of each client. You will collaborate closely with agency providers to ensure appropriate client care and foster an environment that promotes engagement and participation in mental health treatment. The position requires a strong commitment to providing culturally inclusive treatment modalities and an anti-racist lens, ensuring that all clients feel respected and valued. The ideal candidate will thrive in a setting that requires both independent work and teamwork, demonstrating a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery. This position is currently open for licensed candidates, but Clackamas County will also consider unlicensed candidates who have relevant experience in mental health treatment. However, licensure must be obtained within three years of hire for unlicensed applicants. Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and other therapeutic interventions to clients and their families according to service plans.
  • Monitor client progress during treatment and maintain electronic case records in compliance with agency policies.
  • Develop and implement service plans, determining appropriate treatment and care service needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for mental health and substance use disorders, evaluating functional impairments of clients.
  • Coordinate and consult on behalf of clients with family, providers, and community agencies to maximize treatment goals.
  • Work closely with agency providers to evaluate, treat, and plan appropriate care for clients.
  • Facilitate therapy groups for adults and perform collaborative documentation with clients.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with fluency validated at the time of interview.
  • Registered as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) as established by the State of Oregon.
  • Graduate degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other behavioral science field.
  • If licensed, must be credentialed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychologist (PsyD/PHD).
  • Minimum of two years of related experience for licensed candidates; one year for unlicensed candidates with a commitment to obtain licensure within three years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Licensure (LCSW, CSWA, LPC, or LMFT)
  • Certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) I, II, III
  • Experience working with Evidence Based Treatment Practices
