About the position

In the role of Bilingual Office Administrator II at Hanger, Inc., you will play a crucial part in providing administrative support to patients, fellow employees, and referral sources. This position involves coordinating and managing front office activities to ensure smooth operations within the medical office environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in administrative roles, showcasing excellent computer proficiency and customer service skills. Your responsibilities will include scheduling patient appointments, validating insurance and payment authorizations, inputting claims, processing payments, conducting account collections, performing billing research, and responding to telephone inquiries. You will be responsible for creating new patient charts and maintaining accurate patient records, which includes scanning and filing patient documents to ensure completeness and accuracy. Managing incoming phone calls and obtaining insurance authorizations will also be part of your daily tasks. Additionally, you will provide financial counseling for patients and handle over-the-counter payments. Daily document research will be conducted using an electronic health/medical record system, ensuring that all patient information is up-to-date and accessible. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, with less than one year of customer service or administrative experience. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential. Preferred qualifications include 1-2 years of experience with EMR systems, knowledge of HIPAA regulations, and proficiency in MS Office products. The role demands excellent organizational skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for patient appointment scheduling

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Less than 1 year of customer service, administration or related experience
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver's license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 1-2 years of experience with EMR/electronic health/medical record systems (preferably NextGen and/or OnBase)
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payer, state and federal plans including coding, billing and reimbursement protocols
  • Associate's degree
  • Ability to type 40 correct words per minute
  • At least 2 years of computer and office equipment experience including MS Office products (Word, Excel), e-mail and automated billing systems, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copiers, etc.
  • Basic administrative math accounting skills
