About the position

The position involves providing instructional support to students under the direction of a teacher, assisting in various educational tasks, and managing student behavior throughout the school day. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work well with children, ensuring a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Offer inclusion support to the teacher and students.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain positive and effective communications and relationships with supervisors and colleagues.
• Assume bus driving duties as assigned.
• Assume bus riding/monitoring duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Proficient in speaking/writing Spanish
• Some experience working with children
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
