About the position

The Bilingual Patient Advocate (Spanish/English) at Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is responsible for connecting uninsured hospital patients with programs that can cover their medical expenses. This role serves as a liaison between patients, hospital facilities, and government agencies, ensuring that patients receive the necessary assistance and support throughout the application process.

Responsibilities

  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for medical or disability assistance programs.
  • Complete applications and follow through until approval.
  • Document all cases accurately and timely in company and hospital systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and stakeholders.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on relevant content.
  • Maintain a work queue of patient accounts and collaborate with hospital staff.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls related to patient enrollment and renewals for Medicaid.
  • Assist applicants in gathering necessary documentation and arranging transportation when needed.
  • Inform clients of coverage approvals and denials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in additional training to understand changing governmental program regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with state and federal programs.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to navigate the hospital environment for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding.
