About the position

The Bilingual Physician Practice Patient Access Representative is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, ensuring compliance with medical necessity, verifying eligibility, and posting payments. This role is essential in delivering high-quality care and creating exceptional experiences for patients and their families. The representative will work in a call center environment, primarily during regular business hours, and must be proficient in both English and Spanish to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient appointments and enters required information in the computer system accurately and timely.
  • Obtains demographic, insurance, and financial information from patients or guarantors.
  • Explains all required forms to patients or guarantors and obtains necessary signatures.
  • Ensures medical necessity compliance by obtaining necessary data and communicating information to patients or guarantors.
  • Protects the financial integrity of the facility by collecting patient liability and establishing payment arrangements.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring all notifications and authorizations are completed on time.
  • Posts payments in the computer system and generates appropriate patient receipts.
  • Monitors, reviews, and resolves patient account issues on assigned reports.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with physicians, ancillary departments, nursing units, and patients.
  • Completes thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all policies and procedures.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting education and competency requirements.
  • Models service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a hospital or customer service setting.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient typing/keyboarding skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
