About the position

The Bilingual Public Relations and Marketing Specialist III is responsible for providing accurate translations and interpretations for healthcare providers and patients, ensuring effective communication in clinical settings. This role involves interpreting medical and administrative services, conducting research on medical terminology, and maintaining cultural sensitivity during interactions. The position is full-time, located in Petersburg, VA, and offers a competitive hourly wage.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate translations for healthcare providers and patients considering cultural practices and linguistic variations.
• Interpret for families within health departments or patients' homes regarding visits and medical updates.
• Research medical terms to ensure accurate interpretation.
• Service all seven locations and district departments as needed.
• Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
• Attend staff meetings and recommend new approaches to improve departmental efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Proficient in interpreting Spanish to English.
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills in English.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Proven customer service skills with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification from an independent medical interpreter school or program is preferred.
• Good knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
