The Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP) Coordinator plays a vital role in addressing and preventing intimate partner violence (IPV) within a public school setting in the Bronx. This position is part of Rising Ground's Anti-Intimate Partner Violence Division, which is dedicated to providing trauma-informed and anti-oppressive programming. The RAPP Coordinator will work independently within a high school, delivering direct services to students throughout the academic year. This includes providing education and counseling on relationship abuse, gender-based violence, and healthy relationships, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate these critical issues. During the summer months, the RAPP Coordinator will facilitate an intensive training program aimed at empowering selected middle and high school students to become RAPP Peer Leaders. This role requires a strong commitment to survivor-centered practices and an understanding of the complexities surrounding gender-based violence. The Coordinator will engage in various responsibilities, including individual and group counseling, classroom workshops, and training sessions for staff and parents. Maintaining accurate case files and participating in team supervision are also essential components of this position. The RAPP Coordinator will have the opportunity to supervise MSW interns, contributing to the professional development of future social workers. Rising Ground emphasizes the importance of anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and feminist principles in its approach to supporting survivors of IPV. The RAPP Coordinator will be expected to incorporate reflective practices that address issues of race, oppression, and intersectionality into their clinical work, ensuring that all students receive equitable and effective support. This position is ideal for a passionate and skilled social worker who is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of young people affected by relationship abuse.
