About the position

The Bilingual/Spanish Human Resources Generalist at Medline Industries, Inc. is an onsite role based in Waukegan, Illinois, operating Monday through Friday. This position is pivotal in providing guidance and solutions on various human resources operational issues under general supervision. The HR Generalist will partner with management to facilitate the delivery of HR services, ensuring that the organization's current HR requirements are met and that the HR strategy is implemented effectively. This role also serves as a primary contact for employees, addressing their questions regarding HR policies and procedures. In this capacity, the HR Generalist will develop positive employee relations initiatives, coaching both employees and managers on the correct interpretation and administration of company HR policies. They will assess the internal employee climate and work closely with managers to identify and implement actions that enhance or maintain a positive employee relations environment. The HR Generalist will also partner with HR management to conduct local level investigations and resolve team member issues, conduct exit interviews, and provide feedback to management. Additionally, they will represent the company at unemployment hearings when necessary. The role involves liaising between Talent Acquisition and management in the recruitment and selection of candidates, as well as working with local managers to determine training needs. The HR Generalist will compile data and analyze training requirements, recommending programs to support employee and management development. They will ensure an effective onboarding process for new employees and maintain internal consistency in administering job evaluations and compensation programs. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will assist local managers with salary and wage administration to ensure pay consistency and equity, while ensuring that HR operations comply with federal, state, and local employment requirements. Support for affirmative action programs, auditing and maintaining current work authorizations, and assisting with the leave of absence process in partnership with the corporate Leave of Absence team are also key responsibilities. The HR Generalist will take a lead role in ensuring that employees are returned to work as soon as possible following Workers Compensation claims.

Responsibilities

  • Develop positive employee relations initiatives.
  • Coach employees and managers on correct interpretation and administration of Company HR policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 2 years of HR Generalist experience demonstrating knowledge of HR practices, legal rules, and regulations.
  • Experience applying knowledge of state employment laws to assess compliance issues.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
  • Fluency in Spanish (read/write/speak).
