About the position

The Bilingual Spanish Medical Assistant at CenterWell serves as the first point of contact for patient care, responsible for both administrative duties and direct patient care. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, recording medical histories, performing routine tests, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care. The Medical Assistant operates under defined parameters, allowing for some discretion in prioritizing tasks while adhering to standard policies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations, including taking vitals.
  • Record and update patient medical histories in electronic medical records software.
  • Perform routine tests and/or screenings such as mammograms, colorectal screening, and EKGs.
  • Prepare and administer medications, including injections and vaccinations as directed by a physician.
  • Counsel patients on medication and special diets.
  • Provide wound care and change dressings.
  • Sterilize and clean equipment and maintain examination rooms.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to ensure top-level patient care.
  • Collect phlebotomy samples accurately from senior-aged patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant medical office experience.
  • CPR certification.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Advanced Phlebotomy experience.
  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, able to speak, read, and write without limitations.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of experience working in a cardiologist office.
  • One year of EKG experience.
  • One year of previous experience as a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Willingness to learn and be cross-trained in other roles.
  • Previous experience with medical front office responsibilities.
  • Experience with HEDIS and Electronic Medical Records.
  • Previous experience in a geriatric setting.
  • Rad Tech License (AART).
