About the position

The Bilingual Spanish Universal Banker at M&T Bank is responsible for enhancing the branch customer experience through effective sales, service, and digital engagement with both Consumer and Business Banking customers. This role involves supporting daily operations as a Teller, managing customer appointments, and addressing customer needs while adhering to compliance and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Educate customers on Consumer and Business Banking solutions and make recommendations based on their needs.
  • Engage customers to encourage the use of digital banking capabilities.
  • Explain criteria for loan application decisions.
  • Complete servicing-related responsibilities and identify opportunities for additional banking needs.
  • Follow the Bank's sales process to provide customer-focused advice.
  • Proactively reach out to customers to retain and expand banking relationships.
  • Adhere to customer service standards and deliver solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Manage the lobby by greeting customers and addressing their banking needs.
  • Introduce banking partners for product solutions when necessary.
  • Assist with AML, BSA, and KYC processes and escalate suspected fraud cases.
  • Resolve customer complaints and log them accurately.
  • Review and help resolve customer overdrafts.
  • Complete customer transactions accurately and document interactions.
  • Adhere to compliance and operational risk controls.
  • Promote diversity and reflect the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards and implement audit points as required.
  • Meet registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in retail sales, call center, customer service, or telesales.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, assessed for proficiency.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse customer base.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer conversations effectively.
  • Well-organized with proven time management skills.
  • Ability to work under critical time constraints in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with internet user-level technology.

  • Proven referral and/or sales ability.

  • Competitive pay range of $20.00 - $32.60 Hourly (USD).
