The Bilingual Education Teacher for 3rd Grade Spanish is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students, enabling them to effectively engage with the curriculum in English. Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher will develop lesson plans that align with the objectives of the instructional program, adhere to Chicago Public Schools' policies, and comply with Illinois Learning Standards as well as state and federal laws. The role involves administering tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language abilities and assessing their progress within the bilingual program. The teacher will create and deliver lesson plans that utilize appropriate instructional techniques to help limited English proficient students overcome barriers to participation in the district's instructional programs. Establishing positive learning expectations and maintaining accurate records of student achievements are crucial aspects of this position. The teacher will implement various instructional methods, drawing from a range of materials available in the school, and participate in the development of new teaching techniques. In addition to instructional duties, the teacher will be responsible for maintaining classroom discipline, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring fairness in teacher-student relationships. Communication with parents and guardians regarding students' academic progress, attendance, and conduct is essential.
