About the position

WYTU-TV, Weigel Broadcasting's Telemundo affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is seeking an experienced Bilingual Videographer/Editor to shoot and edit news for our Telemundo WI newscasts. This position is integral to our growing news team, which operates in a dynamic, inclusive, and fast-paced newsroom within a competitive news market. Milwaukee is known for its aggressive news coverage, and we are looking for a photojournalist who is not only experienced but also passionate about storytelling and community engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, demonstrating a team-oriented approach. Engaging with the community and local leaders is essential, as is the ability to operate cameras and perform non-linear editing. We prioritize the development of our photojournalists, providing regular feedback and collaborative critiques with the Chief Photographer and Director of Photography. We also support professional growth through paid NPPA memberships and encourage obtaining a drone license. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, be insurable, and exhibit flexibility in their schedules to meet the demands of the role. Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a drone license as part of professional development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a photojournalist with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in camera operation and non-linear editing software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Strong storytelling skills and a passion for community engagement.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with drone operation and licensing.
  • Familiarity with NPPA standards and practices.
