Responsibilities

  • Educating clients about the WIC program and benefits and assessing eligibility.
  • Conducting health evaluations and providing nutrition recommendations and counseling.
  • Referring clients to other services as needed and maintaining accurate records.
  • Providing customer service and community outreach while ensuring quality assurance and compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • One year of customer service experience is required; an associate's degree may replace experience.
  • Medical Assistant - Registered required, with certification obtained within one year's employment.
  • WIC Certification is required once the training period is completed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at level 9 to receive bilingual differential pay.
  • Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle various tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact with women, caregivers, infants, children, and staff.
  • General knowledge in culturally appropriate practice.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in reception, nutrition education, working with children/infants, or being a previous WIC certifier or educator is a plus!
  • Knowledge about basic nutrition concepts desired.
