About the position

The Lead Maintenance Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the hotel, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired. This role involves supervising the maintenance staff, participating in preventative maintenance programs, and addressing guest requests and work orders. The Lead Maintenance Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for both guests and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned.
  • Direct and supervise the maintenance staff as requested by the Property Engineer and/or General Manager.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department and ensure successful completion of tasks.
  • Participate in the preventative maintenance program and handle guest requests and work orders.
  • Perform trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc.
  • Train and supervise maintenance Engineering staff and coordinate scheduling.
  • Ensure all Engineering personnel fulfill their job functions appropriately.
  • Report emergencies and unusual situations immediately.
  • Handle guest room maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for various hotel equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR).
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Effective problem-solving skills in the workplace.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information and data from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial information and basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
