About the position

The Billing and Follow-Up Trainee position is a remote role focused on learning and performing various office and clerical tasks related to billing and follow-up activities within the revenue operations of a Patient Business Services (PBS) location. This role is designed for individuals to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to transition into a Billing and Follow-Up Representative I level after a training period of up to six months. The position emphasizes adherence to compliance and ethical standards while providing support in billing processes for both government and non-government accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform a variety of office/clerical tasks related to billing and follow-up activities.
  • Document claims billed, paid, and settled; follow up in appropriate systems.
  • Identify and escalate issues affecting accurate billing and follow-up.
  • Perform routine follow-up functions to ensure timely claim resolution.
  • Assist in the timely delivery of various department services as part of the billing and follow-up team.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies preferred.
