The Billing and Reporting Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the Billing and Reporting Unit under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for managing all patient accounting functions, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards, policies, and guidelines. The manager will develop and monitor departmental policies and procedures, negotiate and maintain contracts with commercial and public payers, and ensure contract compliance throughout the unit. Additionally, the manager will represent the department at various meetings and serve as the primary liaison for internal staff and external organizations. In this role, the manager will perform essential functions such as hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, and taking disciplinary actions as necessary. They will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with third-party insurers to improve revenue and resolve any issues or concerns related to the Billing and Reporting unit. The manager will coordinate the document flow process related to billing and patient accounts, ensuring that records and registration information are accurately correlated and forwarded to third-party billing with adequate follow-up. The Billing and Reporting Manager will supervise the monitoring and reconciliation of third-party insurance remittances and cash collections, develop new or modified patient billing procedures, and institute payment plans for patients with delinquent accounts. They will also advise patients on insurance options offered by the state and prepare, analyze, and distribute reports, graphs, charts, and other data. Attendance at various internal and external meetings regarding program goals, objectives, and outcomes is also a key responsibility of this position.
