About the position

The Billing & Collections Coordinator at California Hand and Physical Therapy is responsible for managing the revenue cycle, ensuring accurate billing and collections processes, and maintaining effective communication with payors and patients. This entry-level position requires attention to detail and proficiency in data processing, with a focus on verifying insurance eligibility, processing payments, and providing monthly updates to management.

Responsibilities

• Establish payor source-initiate within 1 working day of referral.
• Verify insurance eligibility & benefits or self-pay status.
• Confirm completion of financial authorization/consent.
• Secure authorizations as required.
• Make or relate payor confirmation for entry in the Referral Log.
• Advise receptionist of payor status for appointment confirmation.
• Establish and maintain accurate payor files on all patients.
• Process charges & payments to patients accounts - daily.
• Verify daily totals.
• Cross check charges slips with patient visits.
• Cross check payments received with payments posted.
• Assist with or complete deposits daily.
• Compile accounts to be processed.
• Perform other duties as requested per competency confirmation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Attention to detail-mathematical & data processing
• Data processing proficiency-Billing & practice management systems and Excel
• Excellent communication skills-written, verbal and general interactive
• Organizational skills-priority setting, file maintenance & report generation
• Experience in Medical A/R/ management
• Experience in insurance industry claims processing/management

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Coding Specialist
• Basic computer courses or equivalent preparation
• Prefer business school graduate
