About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Billing Manager for Workers Compensation to oversee the billing operations of our organization. This key role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage a team. The Billing Manager will ensure accuracy and timeliness in the billing process, develop policies to improve efficiency, and stay updated with industry trends and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the billing process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and analyze billing data to identify discrepancies or errors
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing issues and ensure proper documentation
  • Develop and implement billing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Train and supervise billing staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Conduct regular audits of billing records to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in billing regulations
  • Review and appeal an EOB/EOR
  • Read and interpret an EOB/EOR
  • Enter Medical Billing ICD9-10/ CPT codes
  • Understand and apply the new and old fee schedules set by the Division of Workers Comp-California
  • Know and apply the process of SBR and IBR
  • Know and apply the new regulations in regards to SB863
  • Answer phones and screen calls
  • Assist CEO/CFO with various projects and tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in Workers' Compensation billing
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Workers Comp billing codes as well as state laws and fee schedules
  • Experience in Workers Comp billing is required
  • High comfort level with computers and computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • Trainable with billing computer programs/data systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail to identify errors and discrepancies
  • Good organizational skills, able to prioritize and multi-task

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong Knowledge of California Worker Compensation including QME/AME
  • Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and technical accounting principles
  • Experience in financial services or related field
  • Proficient in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting practices is a plus
  • Experience in credit analysis is a plus
