The Billing Representative at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital is responsible for managing the submission of medical claims to various insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid. This role emphasizes the importance of maintaining the hospital's financial interests while ensuring compliance with billing regulations and advocating for patients. The position requires strong clerical skills and effective communication to handle discrepancies and follow up on claims efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and transmit medical claims using billing software, including both electronic and paper claims.
- Call insurance companies to resolve discrepancies in payments, denials, and missing information.
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances as necessary.
- Work on credits, claim edits, and follow up on assigned work queues.
- Post required adjustments as identified.
Requirements
- Two years of previous billing experience or equivalent knowledge in cash posting.
- Strong clerical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and oral communication skills.
- High School Diploma or GED.
