As a Billing Representative, you will be responsible for managing work queues related to insurance follow-ups, including handling denials and resolving them, as well as following up on claims that have no status. This position is full-time, and employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 10425 Enterprise Dr, Redlands, CA. You will undergo 90 days of paid training, with training hours set from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, conducted onsite. Your primary responsibilities will include contacting insurance carriers and patients regarding outstanding claims, preparing documentation for appeals, ensuring accounts are set up correctly in the system, and processing refunds when applicable. You will also be responsible for investigating and correcting prepayments and managing a book of unpaid claims assigned to you. Responsibilities

  • Contact insurance carriers/patients regarding outstanding insurance claims to obtain proper payment.
  • Prepare proper documentation for appeals to insurance carriers.
  • Ensure all accounts are set-up correctly in the computer using knowledge of A/R software and understanding of eligibility requirements.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of insurance carrier procedures and processes.
  • Understand contract reimbursement rates for individual carriers/networks.
  • Process refunds when applicable.
  • Investigate and correct prepayments.
  • Meet minimum production standards as set by management.
  • Manage a book of unpaid claims that appear in work queues assigned to each Billing Rep.
  • May be assigned special projects or other assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 1+ years of experience in medical insurance billing
  • Ability to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical Billing/Terminology knowledge
  • 2+ years of experience in medical insurance billing
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Verbal/written communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding systems
  • Ability to assess work responsibilities and prioritize
  • Keen insight in problem solving relative to billing.
