About the position

As a Billing Specialist at Midwest Vision Partners, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the billing process for customers, patients, and MVP platforms. This position requires a blend of customer service and billing expertise, as you will assist customers with their billing inquiries and concerns. Your responsibilities will include answering calls and correspondence from customers to identify their needs, responding to inquiries, discussing product or service specifications, managing billing arrangements, providing price quotes, and offering additional services as needed. The role is designed to ensure that customers receive the highest level of service while effectively managing their billing matters. You will be expected to take inbound calls from customers, problem-solve to reconcile outstanding balances from insurances and patients, and discuss open balances with patients to collect payments accordingly. Maintaining collection agency accounts and placing outgoing calls to insurance companies and patients to resolve outstanding claims and balances will also be part of your daily tasks. A strong knowledge of medical insurance and the proper use of computer software is essential, as you will be posting charges, payments, and adjustments in Allscripts Practice Management software. Effective and professional communication with physicians, co-workers, management, and patients is critical to your success in this role. In addition to these responsibilities, you will perform general office duties and other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the billing department. This position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, and offers a hybrid work model after training, allowing for a balance between in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the billing process for customers, patients, and MVP platforms.
  • Assist customers with billing inquiries and concerns via calls and correspondence.
  • Identify customer needs and respond to inquiries regarding product or service specifications.
  • Manage billing arrangements and provide price quotes to customers.
  • Take inbound calls from customers and problem-solve to reconcile outstanding balances from insurances and patients.
  • Discuss open balances with patients and collect payments accordingly.
  • Maintain collection agency accounts and place outgoing calls to insurance companies and patients to resolve outstanding claims and balances.
  • Exhibit knowledge of medical insurance and proper use of computer software.
  • Post charges, payments, and adjustments in Allscripts Practice Management software.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with physicians, co-workers, management, and patients.
  • Perform general office duties and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledgeable in ICD-10 & CPT Codes.
  • Medical billing experience is required.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service experience is desired.
  • Experience in Ophthalmology, Optometry, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and/or Optical billing is preferred.
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Management is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hybrid work environment.
  • Familiarity with Allscripts Practice Management software.
