About the position

Baptist Health is seeking a Billing Specialist I for the Hospital Billing Team. This full-time position is responsible for ensuring accurate billing of claims to various payers, including commercial insurance companies and government entities. The role requires effective communication with different departments to resolve billing issues and a solid understanding of medical billing codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure each claim is billed appropriately to commercial insurance companies, third party organizations, and government payers.
• Process charges in accordance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
• Verify the accuracy and completeness of all charges on claims to ensure appropriate billing.
• Communicate with various departments to resolve outstanding issues with claims prior to billing.
• Research and resolve electronic claim delays, including unreleased and/or rejected claims in the billing system.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, NCCI edits, MUE edits, and Payer edits.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1 year of accounts receivable experience required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT4/HCPCS coding required.
• Experience in third party billing and payment methodologies required.
• Medical billing experience required.
• Revenue cycle operations experience required.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification preferred.
