About the position

As a Billing Specialist/Patient Account Representative, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate billing, timely payments, and excellent customer service. This position involves generating invoices, verifying insurance coverage, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records, all while adhering to healthcare regulations and coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and send invoices to patients or insurance companies for medical services rendered.
  • Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility for services.
  • Receive and process payments from patients or insurance companies.
  • Communicate with patients regarding their bills, payment options, and any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies between billing records, payments received, and insurance reimbursements.
  • Ensure that medical codes are accurately assigned to services provided, following established coding guidelines and regulations such as ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses related to billing, accounts receivable, and revenue cycle management.
  • Stay up-to-date with healthcare regulations, billing guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure compliance and minimize billing errors or fraudulent activities.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate billing processes and resolve any billing-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancements in billing and revenue cycle management.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Strong understanding of billing regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication abilities.
  • Ability to reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
