About the position

The Bindery Production Supervisor at Jostens is responsible for directing and coordinating operations within the Bindery department, ensuring that production objectives for quality, quantity, cost, and delivery are met. This role involves managing schedules, quality control, and the allocation of materials and personnel, while also implementing safety programs and training employees. The supervisor will work closely with continuous improvement engineers to enhance processes and safety measures.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate Bindery departmental operations within the plant.
  • Meet plant objectives for quality, quantity, cost, and delivery.
  • Control the area's schedule, quality, and allocation of materials, personnel, and equipment.
  • Plan and implement the safety program for the area.
  • Train employees on safety procedures and Hazardous Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Coordinate production and performance goals, organizing work to maintain a productive environment.
  • Determine job priorities and ensure preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and safety goals.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Business, Manufacturing, or related field, or valid equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Production operations and supervision.
  • Valid supervisory experience managing a team and department.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop people in a production environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in cross-functional communication.
  • Strong safety background and experience in developing and executing safety plans.
  • Ability to work a Night Shift (10 - 12 hours).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a made-to-order business or manufacturing environment.
  • Bindery printing experience (Yearbook and/or Commercial).
  • Basic knowledge of 5S methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Exposure to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
