About the position
The Biochemist - III (Senior) position at ManpowerGroup involves working in a lab-based environment to support the Protein Engineering group in designing and engineering enzymes and therapeutic proteins for drug discovery and development. The role requires hands-on experience with laboratory automation and various analytical methods, focusing on manipulating DNA and analyzing data generated from biochemical experiments.
Responsibilities
- Manipulate DNA to produce enzymes in cell-free or E. coli expression systems.
- Set up reactions using enzyme preparations as catalysts.
- Quench reactions and prepare samples for HPLC or MS analysis.
- Analyze data generated in support of protein-directed evolution workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, engineering, or chemical science with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or an MS degree with 2+ years, or a PhD with 0-1 year of experience in relevant fields.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory automation techniques, especially Biomek or Tecan liquid handling systems.
- Experience with analytical methods such as HPLC, LC-MS, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, and FPLC.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel).
- Experience in high-throughput screening and automated liquid handling.
- Knowledge of chemical and biochemical solution preparation and reaction preparation.
- Understanding of experimental design and data analysis principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and multitasking abilities.
- Good documentation skills for experimental reports.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with HPLC and LC-MS, particularly with Agilent systems.
- Experience in protein characterization and purification.
- Experience in molecular biology and/or protein expression platforms (cell-free, microbial, yeast, bacillus, mammalian).
- Industry experience is preferred.
