About the position

The Biologist position with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Midwest Region focuses on program management and oversight related to fish and wildlife resources. The role involves providing technical assistance to tribal governments, managing complex science programs, and ensuring quality assurance for projects under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI).

Responsibilities

• Serve as program manager and quality assurance specialist for the BIA Midwest Region's consultation with tribal governments regarding the GLRI Program.
• Provide technical assistance to Federally recognized Tribal governments in the Great Lakes watershed for project funding proposals and quality assurance plans.
• Perform program planning and evaluation as a technical advisor.
• Coordinate large and complex projects related to natural resources, fish, and wildlife.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• A degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, managing interdisciplinary programs related to natural resources, fish, and wildlife.
• Experience in performing and coordinating field analysis and biological assessments.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with government-to-government consultation processes.
• Knowledge of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and related environmental policies.
