About the position
Seattle Pacific University (SPU) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Biology Adjunct Instructor within the College of Arts and Sciences, specifically in the STEM and Social Sciences department. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching biology and are committed to fostering an engaging and interactive learning environment. The Biology Department emphasizes collaborative learning, where both students and faculty work together to deepen their understanding of biological concepts. The courses available for teaching include non-majors biology, introductory biology, and anatomy & physiology. Instructors will have the opportunity to integrate authentic research experiences into the general biology lab curriculum, enhancing the educational experience for students. As an adjunct faculty member, you will be expected to support active, participatory learning experiences that encourage student engagement and critical thinking. The position is part-time and will remain open until filled, allowing for flexibility in scheduling. Candidates will work closely with other faculty members to develop and implement effective teaching strategies that align with SPU's mission and values. This role not only involves teaching but also contributing to the academic community at SPU, which is dedicated to cultural engagement and diversity in education.
Responsibilities
- Teach multiple sections of non-majors biology, introductory biology, and anatomy & physiology courses.
- Integrate authentic research experiences into the general biology lab curriculum.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to enhance the learning experience.
- Support active and participatory learning experiences for students.
Requirements
- Master's degree in biology or a relevant field.
- Bachelor's degree applicants will be considered.
- Commitment to support active, participatory learning experiences.
