About the position

The Department of Biology at Central Michigan University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will support the new undergraduate program in Biotechnology and participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs. The role emphasizes teaching lower- and upper-level courses while contributing to research in various biological fields, including Biomedical, Cellular, and Molecular Biology, as well as Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach lower- and upper-level courses in Biology and Biotechnology.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs such as Biochemistry, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Earth and Ecosystem Sciences.
  • Establish and maintain a vigorous research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Attract extramural funding for research initiatives.
  • Foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching and research environment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching.
  • Effective communication skills.
