About the position

PeaceHealth is seeking a Biomed Technician I - Clinical Engineering for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. This role is essential in performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and safety testing and deployment of biomedical and general patient care equipment. The technician will work under the guidance and supervision of the department supervisor or an experienced Biomedical Technician. The position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement, and there may be more than one opening available. The Biomed Technician I will be responsible for performing equipment inspections, minor repairs, and planned maintenance. They will collaborate with experienced biomedical technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment, ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with established standards and meets regulatory requirements. Additionally, the technician will maintain all documentation and record-keeping required by management as outlined by current policies and procedures, documenting time and expenses in a timely manner. Assisting experienced biomedical technicians with testing and calibration of equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and other established guidelines is also a key function of this role. The technician will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the clinical engineering department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs equipment inspection, minor repairs, and planned maintenance.
  • Works with experienced biomedical technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment.
  • Assures all work is performed in accordance with established standards and meets regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains all documentation and record keeping required by management as outlined by current policies and procedures.
  • Documents time and expense in a timely manner.
  • Assists experienced biomedical technicians with testing and calibration of equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and other established guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Required: Biomedical Technology or equivalent related field in electronic engineering, biomedical engineering, physics or technical training.
  • Minimum of 1 year Required: of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance or completion of an internship as part of a formal Biomed Technician program.
  • Required: Drivers License.
  • Solid verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic medical terminology related to equipment function.
  • Skilled in using computers with Windows operating system.
  • Ability to respond to emergency codes, fire, show of force and disaster.
  • Knowledge of both Analog and Digital electronics.
