About the position

The incumbent serves as the Chief, Healthcare Technology Manager and has oversight of all Healthcare Technology Management staff with direct overall responsibility for all matters relating to medical equipment, biomedical engineering operations, electronics operations and hybrid information technology (IT) support of health information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a medical equipment management program that meets current Joint Commission, NFPA and other pertinent regulatory requirements.
  • Manages a recall and safety alert program for medical devices, including medical device incident investigations to assure compliance with patient safety goals.
  • Serves as an advisor to senior clinical and leadership staff on medical technology, including existing and emerging technology.
  • Conducts capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment spanning initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical systems.
  • Serves as an institutional expert who directly supports the most complex and specialized clinical technology.
  • Responsible for the programmatic implementation of the Medical Device Protection Program (MDPP).
  • Services as a technical expert who directly supports and manages numerous VISN hosted health information systems.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) and a Bachelor's Degree not listed above is acceptable.
