About the position

Brainlab's OR Integration Specialist plays a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and support of the company's Operating Room (OR) Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery product portfolio. This position involves performing custom installations to ensure the functionality of OR Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery products. The work includes tasks such as pulling and terminating cables (both fiber and non-fiber), mounting hardware like monitors, and testing all cross-compatibility according to the specific scope of work for each project. The specialist is also responsible for conducting repairs and periodic maintenance on these products, which requires a solid understanding of Healthcare Data Management, HIPAA regulations, and various integration standards such as VNA/HIS/PACS, IHE, DICOM, and HL7, as well as familiarity with 4K video routing and medical device integration. In addition to technical skills, the OR Integration Specialist must be adept at reading, analyzing, and interpreting site planning manuals and blueprints that outline infrastructure requirements, A/V system flow schematics, and wiring diagrams. The role requires resolving product issues through detailed analysis and leveraging engineering and troubleshooting expertise. Effective communication with Project Management, Sales, Marketing, and Clinical End Users is essential to understand complex problems and troubleshoot issues adequately. The specialist will also instruct team members and clinical end users on the maintenance of OR Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery equipment, ensuring high-quality communication with both internal and external customers. Staying updated on new developments regarding Brainlab and competitive OR Integration and Image Guided-Surgery products and services through training and analysis is also a key responsibility. This position demands a proactive approach to contributions within the organization, ensuring that the specialist is not only technically proficient but also a valuable team player.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custom installations to establish functionality of OR Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery Products.
  • Pull and terminate cables (fiber and non-fiber), mount hardware such as monitors, and test cross-compatibility as per project scope.
  • Conduct repairs and periodic maintenance on OR Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery Products.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret site planning manuals and blueprints containing infrastructure requirements and wiring diagrams.
  • Resolve product issues through detailed analysis and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Management, Sales, Marketing, and Clinical End Users to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Instruct team members and clinical end users in the maintenance of OR Integration and Ceiling-Mounted Image Guided-Surgery equipment.
  • Maintain high-quality communication with internal and external customers.
  • Stay abreast of new developments regarding Brainlab and competitive products through training and analysis.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or IT Technology required.
  • Minimum 4 years of OR Integration installation experience or comparable skill set for applicants without a 4-year degree.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently, delivering results without close supervision.
  • Demonstrated expertise with hardware troubleshooting and computer systems.
  • Ability to adjust to technical and logistics needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to perform under challenging conditions in a construction environment.
  • Proficiency in using test equipment and hand tools, including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of OR Integration technology and computer networks preferred.
  • High comfort level with software and technology.
