The Biomedical Engineer plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by planning, training others, and installing, maintaining, and repairing sophisticated medical equipment and systems that are essential for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. This position requires a strong understanding of biomedical equipment and the ability to work collaboratively with various specialties within the healthcare environment. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is functioning correctly and safely, which is vital for patient care and safety. In this role, the Biomedical Engineer will work under the supervision of a manager or designee to perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems. This includes conducting pre-issue and asset accounting, as well as the installation and de-installation of related equipment as needed. The engineer will also perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain compliance with relevant codes and standards. Documenting the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests is a critical part of the job, ensuring that all work is recorded accurately and in a timely manner. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will work closely with other biomedical engineers specializing in various areas such as Instrumentation, X-Ray, CT/MR, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Clinical Laboratory, and more. The position also requires frequent travel to provide service support, attend technical training, and be available for emergency service on a scheduled and unscheduled basis. Communication devices will be provided to ensure that the engineer is reachable during duty hours, and after-hours work may be necessary to complete required tasks. The role is essential in maintaining the operational integrity of medical equipment, which directly impacts patient care and outcomes.
