About the position

The Biomedical Engineer I position at Nuvance Health is responsible for the calibration, repair, maintenance, and documentation of medical equipment to ensure safe and efficient use in patient care. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs while maintaining compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all medical equipment requirements for the hospital, including record keeping of maintenance, repair, and inspection.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and calibrations to ensure devices meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Documents and evaluates equipment usage and repairs, monitoring utilization of equipment and repair supplies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of standards, codes, and operations of clinical and test equipment, informing management of any issues.
  • Submits purchase order requisitions for departmental inventory and equipment repairs in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with Purchasing and Material Management Departments to oversee proper receiving protocols for patient care equipment.
  • Maintains instruments and tools of the department in proper condition.
  • Reports incidents, irregularities, unsafe conditions, and unusual occurrences immediately.
  • Maintains a healthy and safe working environment by performing safety tests and complying with codes.
  • Accepts assignments from management and works effectively as a team member.
  • Performs other relevant duties as directed by Biomedical Coordinators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or relevant Engineering.
  • Minimum of zero (0) to three (3) years of medical equipment and electronic experience.
  • A Biomed internship from an accredited school is acceptable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with General Medical Equipment.
  • Training on High-Risk Medical Equipment.
