About the position

The Biomedical Engineer II at Medtronic plays a crucial role in supporting device performance throughout the product lifecycle. This position involves experimental design, execution, and analysis of tissue testing and device performance assessments, particularly in the surgical stapling and robotics portfolios. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and contribute to the development of innovative medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to execute experiments efficiently according to predetermined protocols
  • Execute product performance assessments through test method development and device testing in ex vivo and in vivo tissue environments
  • Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and communicate experimental results to cross-functional teams
  • Participate in publication strategy for research and evidence findings
  • Maintain knowledge of competitive product portfolios
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine evidence needs
  • Design, develop and provide safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment
  • Ensure that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards
  • Perform material testing of biological tissue to evaluate current and future experimental models
  • Support experimental investigations in mechanically-mediated tissue remodeling through device design, verification, and in vivo operation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical Device or Scientific industry

Nice-to-haves

  • MS in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated record of success in material testing and characterization
  • Experience in successful experimental design
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and computer software skills utilizing research-based applications
  • Ability to compile and organize technical data using Excel, Word, or PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Minitab
