About the position

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for planning, training, installing, maintaining, and repairing sophisticated medical equipment and systems used in patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. This role involves working collaboratively with various biomedical engineering specialties and requires frequent travel for service support and technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all phases of scheduled and corrective repairs of biomedical equipment and medical systems under supervision.
  • Conduct pre-issue and asset accounting, equipment installation, and de-installation as needed.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, and electrical safety tests of biomedical equipment to maintain code compliance.
  • Document the results of all inspections, maintenance, and tests accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with other biomedical engineers and OEM representatives to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Complete applicable documentation of all work performed in a timely manner.
  • Travel frequently to provide service support and attend technical training.
  • Participate in after-hours work as required to complete necessary tasks.
  • Be available for weekday and weekend on-call schedules for emergency service.

Requirements

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in biomedical engineering or related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Valid unrestricted class C or better driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience and working knowledge of medical equipment and systems in general instrumentation or assigned specialty area.
  • Proficiency in operating PCs with Windows operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree or equivalent in electronics, physics, or related science degree preferred.
