About the position

The Senior Biomedical Engineer at ProHealth Care is responsible for the installation, maintenance, modification, demonstration, and repair of complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices. This role involves providing high-quality training and technical support to clinical departments, ensuring the safe and effective use of medical technologies. The engineer will also assist in developing processes and procedures related to the clinical use of these technologies, contributing to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Implement preventive maintenance programs on complex medical electronic equipment to ensure safety and accuracy.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices using established electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Install, calibrate, and test new medical electronic devices and systems.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled electrical and functional safety inspections on medical devices.
  • Train medical staff on the safe and proper use of complex medical electronic devices and systems.
  • Provide operational and technical advice to clinical staff on diagnostic and therapeutic devices.
  • Interact regularly with clinical staff to ensure their needs are met during the clinical use of equipment.
  • Act as a technical resource for Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Biomedical Assistants.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and adjustments performed on equipment.
  • Modify existing electronic devices and systems to meet user needs according to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures related to equipment maintenance and use.
  • Participate in research projects and evaluations of new biomedical equipment.
  • Interact with manufacturer's representatives to obtain technical product information.
  • Make recommendations for capital equipment replacements to leadership.
  • Request and order necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures.
  • Participate in educational programs to maintain technical aptitude.
  • Assist with training technicians and quality control checks on repaired equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronics, biomedical equipment technology, military training in biomedical equipment technology, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of related biomedical engineering experience.
  • Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to use own vehicle for travel between work sites.
