About the position

The Biomedical Engineer (BME) at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) provides essential engineering support to the Biomedical Engineering Section, focusing on medical technology assessment, strategic planning, equipment management, and ongoing maintenance. This role involves collaboration with clinical staff to ensure the effective use of medical equipment and compliance with healthcare standards.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on Biomedical Engineering issues and support biomedical staff at the medical center.
  • Assist clinical staff in the selection and utilization of medical equipment.
  • Participate in technology assessment of medical equipment systems in collaboration with medical staff.
  • Work with Contracting and Supply Chain Management to procure medical equipment that meets clinical needs.
  • Coordinate the implementation of medical technology, including installation and training of equipment operators.
  • Manage medical device recalls and safety alerts, ensuring compliance with safety enhancements.
  • Consult on medical center construction projects related to medical technologies.
  • Support an equipment management program to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Analyze organizational and operational problems and recommend solutions involving medical equipment.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution or Certification as a Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.
