About the position

The Biomedical Engineer position within the Applied Physics Division of the Department of Commerce focuses on advancing measurement science and technology in critical areas such as advanced manufacturing, national security, and quantitative imaging. The role involves researching and developing calibration methods and contrast agents for magnetic imaging technologies, particularly low-field magnetic resonance imaging, to support the U.S. healthcare industry and government.

Responsibilities

  • Research contrast agents for low-field magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Synthesize contrast agents and utilize multiple imaging modalities for analysis.
  • Communicate research results through reports and presentations to the magnetic resonance community.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of specialized experience in low-field MRI, fabrication of magnetic iron oxide reference materials, data processing, and presentation for group analysis.

Nice-to-haves
