About the position

The Biomedical Engineer at Insight Surgery will play a crucial role in designing and manufacturing patient-specific medical devices, including anatomical models and surgical cutting guides. This position offers the opportunity to work directly at the point of care, contributing to improved patient outcomes in leading hospitals across the USA. The role is characterized by a high level of autonomy, responsibility, and a structured career development pathway, especially during the company's growth phase as it expands its presence in the UK and enters the US market.

Responsibilities

  • Using Enterprise level medical segmentation software to extrapolate patient scan data into 3D models
  • Collaborate with clinicians to design custom-made medical devices using a suite of CAD software applications
  • 3D Printing of medical devices to a high standard using a variety of technologies in different materials, post-processing, finishing and inspecting outputs
  • Working on a variety of diverse design and manufacturing projects as and when required
  • Managing the design, manufacturing and quality processes within a hub facility to maintain the continuous improvement of 3D LifePrints ISO 13485:2016 certified Quality Management System
  • Maintenance and calibration of the facilities 3D printers as and when required
  • Liaising with the Sales Team, including developing of new business opportunities within the hub hospital and surrounding hospitals

Requirements

  • Degree in Bio-medical Engineering or similar related discipline
  • Demonstrable industry experience in a biomedical engineering or other engineering/medical roles
  • Experience in medical segmentation software applications
  • Good knowledge of human anatomy and/or surgical procedures, preferably in orthopedics, oncology, or cardiology
  • Knowledge of working with a Quality Management System
  • Understanding and experience with working with 3D printers
  • Good project management and communication skills
