About the position

The Biomedical Equipment Technician 2 position in Phoenixville, PA, is a critical role within the Multi-Vendor Biomedical business at Philips. This position is primarily responsible for managing customer relationships through the effective application of technical knowledge to install, troubleshoot, and service biomedical equipment at various customer sites. The technician will perform preventative maintenance and service repairs on equipment, utilizing service manuals, on-the-job training (OJT), and OEM or third-party training to ensure optimal equipment performance and customer satisfaction. In this role, the technician will independently complete preventative maintenance (PMs), field change orders (FCOs), installations, and all related tasks. They will be expected to diagnose and resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. The technician must demonstrate ownership in challenging situations and exhibit a sense of urgency in delivering results. This includes the ability to prioritize tasks based on the needs communicated by the Site Manager, Site Team, or the customer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in servicing medical equipment, particularly in areas such as general biomedical, patient monitoring, blood pressure monitors, defibrillators, or infusion pumps. A solid understanding of electronic circuit boards, schematics, processors, and computer hardware is essential. The technician must also be able to read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance, ensuring that they can effectively troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed. Additionally, maintaining a valid driver's license and a compliant driving record is a requirement for this field service position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and service repair on biomedical equipment using service manuals and training resources.
  • Identify and resolve customer issues, providing appropriate communication and involving site service personnel as necessary.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by demonstrating ownership in difficult circumstances and showing urgency in delivering results.
  • Independently complete PMs, FCOs, installations, and related tasks while diagnosing and resolving electronic, network, and mechanical problems.
  • Read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment, with a preference for experience in general biomedical, patient monitoring, blood pressure monitors, defibrillators, or infusion pumps.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuit boards, schematics, processors, and computer hardware, including applications, programming, and systems functionality.
  • Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and site drawings with minimal assistance.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a compliant driving record.
