The Biomedical Equipment Technician Intern position is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a Biomedical or Electronic Engineering Equipment program. This role supports the maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment by applying knowledge of electrical, mechanical, chemical, and related engineering principles. Interns will work under the mentorship of experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and customer service. The position requires interns to conduct equipment tests, ensure compliance with relevant codes, and complete preventive maintenance tasks. Additionally, interns will be responsible for training users on the proper operation of biomedical equipment and providing technical support to other technicians. Interns will practice their skills in locating key components and assemblies within various types of biomedical equipment, utilizing schematics and pictorial documents. They will also be expected to document their work in the Clinical Equipment Management System (CEMS) consistently and within procedural timeframes. Clear and concise work orders are essential, as they must be easily understood by other technicians, managers, customers, and surveyors. The position allows for a flexible work schedule, with interns able to work up to 32 hours per week during the day shift, with no weekend rotations required.
