About the position

The Health Technologies Team at Apple is looking for a highly motivated biomedical studies engineer to join a cross-functional team. This role focuses on designing and executing human user studies to evaluate the feasibility of health and wellness sensors, systems, and applications. The engineer will troubleshoot prototype hardware and software, identify reference devices for studies, and streamline data collection processes, ultimately impacting Apple's future products and features.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute human user studies to provide reliable data for evaluating health and wellness technologies.
• Troubleshoot prototype hardware and software/apps used in data collection.
• Identify and evaluate appropriate reference devices for studies.
• Communicate study requirements clearly to participants to ensure consistent data collection.
• Develop and refine processes to improve the user study experience and data collection efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design studies that meet various project needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred or Bachelor's with biomedical research experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging prototype hardware or software.
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.
• Self-starter with initiative and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience with medical, health, wellness, and/or fitness sensors, systems, and applications.
• Experience designing and executing human user studies involving physiological measurement devices.
• Experience with physiological data acquisition, data logging, and statistical analysis using tools like MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team under time pressure.
