About the position

The Bioprocess Technician role at Novozymes focuses on the development, scale-up, and optimization of microbe products and processes. This position involves hands-on experimentation with various microbes, including bacteria, fungi, and yeast, utilizing advanced technology and collaboration with a diverse team of scientists and researchers. The technician will execute lab- and pilot-scale fermentation and recovery experiments, contributing to the creation of innovative biosolutions for multiple industries.

Responsibilities

  • Execute experimental plans to deliver high-quality results in collaboration with scientists and researchers.
  • Operate lab- and pilot-scale fermenters, including media preparation, tank setup, inoculation, monitoring, sampling, and analytics.
  • Maintain inventory of raw materials, reagents, and supplies.
  • Perform job duties safely and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Write, update, and follow standard operating procedures, and learn equipment-specific software.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through calibration, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot issues independently and escalate when necessary.
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Occasionally work nights or weekends to meet deadlines or troubleshoot problems.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemical or Bioprocess Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in fermentation or bioprocessing of microbes.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as microscopy and spectroscopy.
  • Familiarity with mechanical equipment like compressed air, chilled water, or steam systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new applications as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
