About the position

The Biostatistician Data Manager at Guidehouse will provide expert biostatistical support to the Brain Health Equity Unit within the Health Disparities Research Section at the National Institute on Aging. This role focuses on the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of data from community-based cohort studies, contributing to research led by the Principal Investigator. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to lead statistical analysis efforts, ensuring robust study designs and reliable interpretations of results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert biostatistical support to the Brain Health Equity Unit.
  • Lead the development of study protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Perform complex statistical analyses using R, SPSS, and other software.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing and design statistical approaches tailored to research aims.
  • Research and analyze new developments in biostatistical methods.
  • Provide statistical leadership and training to research staff and junior team members.
  • Utilize statistical software to manage and analyze large datasets.
  • Write statistical sections in manuscripts and interpret referees' comments.
  • Analyze, interpret, communicate, and document epidemiologic data and results.
  • Perform data cleaning and transformation, ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborate with investigators to design studies and advise on data collection methods.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's Degree with 2 years of experience in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, or a related field; OR Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive experience in applying statistical methods to public health or clinical research.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining statistical concepts to non-statistical audiences.
  • Experience in data management, including data cleaning and coding.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data protection and research ethics.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Mplus, SPSS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with the National Institute of Health (NIH).
